Civil ceremony

A range of venues are available for your civil ceremony including castles, villas and gardens.

A civil ceremony in Italy is performed by the Mayor or a Civil Registrar, usually in a town hall or a building owned by the local government or council. The ceremony is conducted in Italian with an official interpreter and usually lasts about 20 minutes. This type of ceremony can be personalised to include your own vows, readings and music.

In Taormina civil ceremonies are carried out in the elegant Palazzo dei Duchi di Santo Stefano, a majestic 13th century building set in its own beautiful gardens. Considered a masterpiece of Sicilian gothic art, the palazzo's distinctive façade, elaborate mullioned windows, splendid arches and pink granite columns make it an unforgettable wedding venue.

Bordonaro Castle in Cefalu and Donnafugata Castle in Ragusa are available for civil ceremony celebrations whilst in Palermo Villa Trabia is an elegant historic location. In Siracusa you can choose to conduct your ceremony in the impressive Palazzo del Senato in the main square or the gardens of Villa Reimann.

Symbolic ceremony

A symbolic ceremony can take place in any location, indoors or outside. You may choose a place that holds a certain meaning for you or one of many beautiful terraces, gardens or villas in Sicily. The ceremony is not legally binding so you do not need any specific paperwork.
